Zoran Tosic and Milos Bogunovic grabbed a goal each to help Partizan overcome Poli's 1:0 early advantage and all but secure their place in the group stage of the UEFA Cup. The Romanians were the more dangerous side in the end of end opening exchanges, and have deservedly taken the lead with a spectacular goal by Bocur on 25 minutes. But the Black-Whites have taken command after conceding, and Tosic made it one all on 35 minutes with a trademark free kick. The visitors have dominated the second half as well, and Morreira hit the post minutes before Bogunovic scored the winner with 24 minutes of the second half action gone.

Last season's top scorer Bucur finally got a start for Poli after starting the season on the bench and his inclusion was a wise move, as the striker scored a truly exceptional goal midway through the first half. Midfielder Alexa has overcame his fitness problems in time to feature. The visitors have started the match without injured striker Paunovic, so Diarra was on his own up front, with Bogunovic and Morreira providing support from the midfield.

The match started with end to end action, Tosic failed to hit the empty net with a chip front 30 meters after the home keeper left his line to deny Diarra, but the home side were more dangerous in the early stages and away keeper Bozovic had to produce two fantastic saves to keep his side in it. Partizan have started taking control around the 20th minute, only to concede a goal from a counter attack - Bocur saw the keeper standing outside of his line and seized his opportunity to send a delightful lob from 25 meters into the back of the net. But the visitors were less than impressed, and have exerted almost total domination, equalizing on 35 minutes, when Tosic found the net with a superb free kick from 19 meters out. The Red-Whites have remained on top in the remainder of the first half and wasted two excellent opportunities, Juca had his close ranged attempt blocked, while Moreira had a shot cleared off the line by Abiodun after rounding the keeper. The opening 15 minutes of the second half were rather dull, but Morerira gave a hint of what was coming on 60 minutes, when his powerful shot bounced off the inside of the post and went out. The visitors have taken a deserved lead on 69 minutes - Juca sent a through ball for Bogunovic, who dashed forward from the half line and saw his weak shot taking a deflection off the away keeper and going in. Poli have pushed in the remainder of the match, but have failed to create a clear cut chance, while Partizan have failed to score from three or four excellent counter attacking opportunities they've had.

The overall flow of the match indicates that there is a class difference between the teams which will be very difficult to bridge; as Poli have managed to dominate in the opening 15 minutes, but it was all Partizan after that. Visiting coach Jokanovic has fulfiled his promise of an attacking approach, and his side now look like likely participants of the group stage of the UEFA Cup.
