Wolfsberger are coming from a season in which they displayed two completely contrasting faces, as they played like relegation fodder under Didi Kuhbauer, but vastly improved under Hemo Pfeifenberger and were actually not too far away from finishing inside the European places. They have established themselves as a solid midtable Bundesliga club over the recent years, which is hardly a surprise, given that their managers usually get decent funds to spend on new signings. Pfeifenberger, who has rightfully received a lot of praise for the revival that the Wolves have shown under him, has now had the summer to make the squad his own, but actually did not tinker with the playing cadre too much, with Wolfsberger appearing like having a squad of similar strength to the one they had last season. The most prominent player to leave is striker Issiaka Ouedraogo, who will continue his career in Israel, while the departures of Manuel Seifl and Marc Andre Schmerbock are expected to be compensated for by the signings of Daniel Offenbachler and Gerald Nutz. Manuel Weber should not be seen as a genuine loss, having spent the majority of the previous season on the sidelines, while Philipp Prosenik and Christian Klem are two more interesting signings, with the former expected to compensate for Ouedraogo's departure, and the latter being brought in to likely become the side's new starting left-back and solve the shortage of options in wide defensive areas in Wolfsberger's squad, as Pfeifenberger often had to play players out of position at left and right back last season. All in all, Wolfsberger have a decent squad going into the new season and, with the momentum from the first half of the year, will enter the new season with plenty of optimism.

Target

They will be looking for a solid midtable finish, with the optimists associated with the club hoping for a push for the fourth place.
