Last season was one of much promise for Atlanta but the results in the end disappointed. United had one of the best forward lines and strong opening 9 rounds (W5 D3 L1) set them up to remain a top-6 team in their Conference all season. Unfortunately the 6th place meant tough first round in the play-offs and Atlanta failed to make any noise in the post-season. In his maiden MLS season Greek striker Georgios Giakoumakis was the most efficient forward in the entire league. He scored 17 goals during the regular season, that on only 21 starts made. Unfortunately, Giakoumakis missed lots of matches due to injuries. The other big star is playmaker Thiago Almada, who is likely to leave Atlanta this summer but up until then he will be doing his best to help the team. The team’s main weaknesses were in defence and midfield last season. This has been addressed with the signing of two new marquee players. Centre-back Stian Gregersen and defensive midfielder Bartosz Slisz will have key roles and them settling fast will be crucial for Atlanta’s chances to do better in 2024.

Target

The ambitions are high. Believe they can win it all. Certainly, can reach the Conference final if several key players stay healthy.
