Brendan Rodgers enjoyed a memorable debut season last term when his Celtic side went through the entire campaign unbeaten in the league and secured a domestic treble. It's instantly raised expectations at Celtic Park as the supporters now see their boss as something of a Messiah. The improvements in players such as Stuart Armstrong, Dedryck Boyata, and Scott Brown has helped drive the Parkhead side on to domestic supremacy. However, despite their dominance in Scotland last season, Celtic put in a relative poor display in the Champions League group stages. Just getting there was an achievement in itself after two years of failing to get past the play-off stage under Ronny Deila but, with just one win in their six group stage games last term, the Celtic faithful will be looking for more. Europe is now seen as the next step for this Celtic side as the rest of the league look to catch up to them, and winning their seventh title in-a-row will always be considered a must. With Patrick Roberts gone, Rodgers will have to try and plug the gap left by the Manchester City starlet. With Hayes being brought in, this could give Celtic some much needed directness down the right hand side. With James Forrest struggling to recapture the form that had many fans praising him last term, Celtic need an outlet down the right that they can trust. Rodgers will also be looking to add to his squad before the end of the window but he won't be panicking yet as his side lhave one foot in the Champions League group stage. A wounded Rangers and a reinvigorated Aberdeen will be hot on Celtic's tails this season, trying to gain some ground on last season's run-away champions but Rodgers will know he has the squad not only to win the league and gain another potential three domestic trophies - but to finally make their mark on Europe.

Target

Winning the league is a must but a strong showing in the Champions League group stages will be what Celtic supporters have their sights set on.
