Jan Vreman will take over duties as De Graafschap head coach this season after Adrie Poldervaart and Richard Roelofsen led the club to a mid-table finish last term. Graafschap will be aiming to return to the play-offs this season as Vreman comes back in charge after becoming interim boss in 2022. However, the club will have to deal with the loss of key midfielder Camiel Neghli who has joined Sparta Rotterdam. Last year's starting goalkeeper Hidde Jurjus has also departed the club. Charlison Benschop has left the club as well but saw his role diminish in the second half of the season. There have been plenty of players who have been released from the club too, most notably Giovanni Korte. A lot of depth has also been lost in the form of Jesse Schuurman, Siem de Jong, Mees Kaandorp and Joel Valencia. Graafschap have attempted to plug some holes but will feel more additions are needed. Thijs Jansen and Mees Bakker will compete over starting goalkeeper duties, whilst Donny Warmerdam is a midfield recruitment. Young forward Tristan van Gilst will look to supplement the attack. The club are lacking depth across the board and will need more additions before the start of the new campaign. Pre-season has seen a lot of youth players feature so Graafschap may turn to them instead of new recruitments. Nevertheless, the midfield looks their strength for the meantime, with plenty of promising talents in the squad. That includes the likes of Basar Onal, Philip Brittijn and new arrival Warmerdam.
