Luzern are coming from a turbulent but ultimately successful season, which saw them struggle against the drop in the autumn season but collect the second-biggest point tally in the league during the spring. All of this was enough for them to qualify for Europe, but the Blues' success in 2018 did not go unnoticed and cost them their manager Gerardo Seoane, who took over only in January, as he was tempted away by Young Boys Bern. The Blues may have taken a risk by appointing Seoane, but have decided to take a safer route with their next appointment, as their new gaffer is the more experienced Rene Weiler, who last managed Anderlecht during the 2016-17 season. When it comes to the player ins and outs, the Blues' fans will certainly not be happy with what they have seen so far, as the club is yet to make any truly eye-catching transfers, while losing two regulars in Jonas Omlin and Hekuran Kryeziu, as well as several squad players. So far, the only two players to have joined are keepers Mirko Salvi and Loic Jacot, the former of who will challenge David Zibung for the number one spot following the departure of Omlin. However, Weiler was only named their new boss on July the 1st, and is likely to identify his targets after getting more acquainted with his new squad. The Blues' squad is decent even in its current state, but new players will definitely be added to it over the recent weeks.

Target

They will be aiming to once again qualify for Europe via the league and to finally go on an extended European run, having suffered early Europa League exits in all three of their recent continental appearances.
