Greuther Fürth spent last season battling for survival and there is little to suggest that this season will be that much different. Damir Buric’s side survived by being the third best side at home last season and while such a record is unlikely once again, they will probably still rely on their home games to pick up the majority of their points. The club’s transfers this season are what might be expected of a side who struggled last season. A number of players have been let go including the perennially injured duo of Mathis Bolly and Sercan Sararer. Balazs Megyeri ,Kaylan Hinds, Uffe Bech, Jürgen Gjasula and Adam Pinter were all seen as troublesome elements last season and have equally been sent on their way. What remains is a leaner squad and a much younger one. Aside from the additions of Mario Maloca and Julian Green, who were both on loan last season, and Maximilian Sauer from relegated Eintracht Braunschweig, the rest of the summer signing are new to the league. Overall the quality of the incoming players is not very high which points to the lack of resources the coach has to work with. The emphasis will very much be on the existing squad to improve and try to stay clear of the bottom three. Fürth are a side without any real star players and it is their defence that looks like the strongest element of their team. Buric is likely to play to that strength and look to grind out points this season to try and avoid the drop for another season.

Target

Fürth's only aim will be to avoid relegation this season.
