Kidderminster look set for another season of struggle and battle against the odds as the Worcestershire club look to survive despite dreadful financial situation. The Harriers looked good for a play-off charge last season and started the season quite encouragingly. But the poor management of the club over the years has lead to a very precarious financial position and cost-cutting measures meant that Gary Whild had to work with a very limited squad in the second half of the season. The form of the side nose-dived strikingly and the mood was pretty deflated as a whole. A new season offers hope for a better future and a fresh start but the Kidderminster fans really do not have much reason to be buoyant. The budget is one of the smallest in the league and Whild will have to get by with a small squad and replenish it with loan additions over the course of the season. Mainstays in the squad over the years like Jack Byrne, Josh Gowling and Danny Lewis are no longer around and that will leave a gaping hole in the squad. Experienced pros like Kevin Nicholson, Danny Wright and Lee Hughes departed as well and the team has a very youthful look about them at the moment. Jared Hodgkiss, the most impressive player of the last season, is expected to provide leadership and lead by example for most of the season but it is hard to see much quality in the rest of the side. Lathaniel Rowe-Turner and Joe Clarke are the two best additions of the close season as they are reliable and solid players who will bring consistency to the table. Kevin Langmead could be another excellent signing as he has the experience and ability to be a key player in defence, despite the poor form of recent seasons. The attacking department is the one that has not been strengthened so far and provides the biggest area of concern for Whild. Reece Hales and James Spencer could not be relied to bring goals on regular basis and new additions will be certainly needed there. Anyway, Kidderminster look set for a difficult season and a possible relegation battle as their small squad lacks the cover that many others in the league possess.
