Leganes returned to LaLiga after four years in the second tier and are now in the top flight for only the second time in their history, following their stay between 2016 and 2020. They'll be hoping to repeat the feat of avoiding the drop after securing the talents of their star loanees from last season in Miguel de la Fuente, Juan Cruz and Enric Franquesa, who will now have to adapt to the top tier. The team has the benefit of momentum, coming up from Segunda as champions, and they became very hard to beat with only eight defeats from 42 games. That defensive strength will be needed as the Pepineros will want to replicate their record of the division's best defence last season. Leganes' fans will be concerned about the situation in goal. Star man Diego Conde left for Villarreal, and his replacement Juan Soriano did well for Tenerife last season, but has never played regularly in the first division of LaLiga. The team have the benefit of not facing any of last season's top four until late October, and taking advantage to establish themselves in the early weeks of the campaign. Coach Borja Jimenez will need to adapt quickly to his first taste of managing in the first division.

Target

Staying up. Leganes haven't invested heavily but have a team which got promoted by being difficult to beat, they'll need to continue that trend to make sure that they can stay in LaLiga.
