Having won the First Division by a massive gap of 23 points last season, Limerick enter their season of return to the top flight looking to build on their last season's results and enjoy a decent top flight campaign. They are going into the new campaign after losing their last season's top scorer winger Aaron Greene to Bray, although it needs to be noted that their goals were spread evenly among the players in the squad, and that they had far more than only one potent attacking weapon. Greene is the only important player to have left, but the list of signings looks impressive, with David O'Connor, Brendan Clarke, Ian Turner and Dean Clarke all bringing Premier League experience, and the likes of Rodrigo Tosi and Bastien Hery perhaps lacking Irish top flight experience, but proving themselves in other leagues of comparable quality. The gap between the top flight and the second tier is such that teams that win promotion as Limerick did seldom struggle to stay up and, having done a good job during the winter, they will be rather optimistic going into the new season. Having said that, their squad does not contain enough players with top flight experience to suggest that they could battle for anything more than plain survival.

Target

Their target will be to stay clear of danger and stabilize themselves as a top flight club. Despite the fact that three sides will go down this season, they looked well-equipped to achieve this goal.
