Lincoln had an impressive League Two campaign last time around and won the division to achieve promotion to the third tier. Their rise through the leagues has been impressive, as they were playing non-league football as recently as two years ago, while this will be their first season in the third tier in twenty years. However, they look well-equipped to battle in the third tier. Apart from Mark O'Hara and Danny Rowe, who returned to their parent clubs, no players of any real note have left. The Imps' players are unlikely to struggle to adapt to the third tier, given that the majority of their first team players have League One experience. Only three signings were made. Jack Brown is one for the future, Joe Morrell signs on loan from Bristol City, while Jack Payne, joining from Huddersfield, is an experienced creative attacking midfielder who will be expected to become a mainstay in their side. The Imps are full of optimism going into the new season and will look at the likes of Luton, who completed back-to-back promotions last season, and hope to repeat their feat. However, given how long they were missing from the third tier, their first goal has to be to establish themselves as a solid League One club.

Target

They will be hoping for a top half finish, with outside hopes of a play-off push.
