Spent most of last season in mid-table and finished 13th. Caught the eye with their possession-based style of football but were not consistent enough to make the play-offs. Several significant summer outgoings. Creative midfielder Fraser provided cutting edge to attacking moves last season, veteran striker Jerome was an excellent target man and scored 13 league goals. Wing-backs Sorinola and Laird were crucial assets in the favoured 3-5-1-1 system. The most significant departure could be yet to come with, at time of writing, Swansea making an official approach for MK Dons manager Russell Martin. Of the players coming in, attacking midfielder Twine could go some way to replace Fraser, he scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists last season. The Dons have bolstered their forward line with Watters, who scored 16 goals in 19 appearances for Crawley last season, and Eisa who has a good scoring record in the EFL. Parrott is a young striker with potential, he featured for Ipswich and Milwall last season. If Martin stays, an MK Dons strength is their ability to open up teams with their passing game. However, it was a work in progress last season and they were caught out several times by the high press. If Martin goes, the club will be faced with the decision of getting a manager in who plays the same way or going in a different direction.

Target

Play-offs. What manager Martin decides to do could define their season.
