No doubt their return to Eredivisie was a failure. Only saved by the league suspension due COVID-19 when they were one step away from the immediate return in Eerste Divisie. Always at the bottom of the table, they never gave the feeling of being competitive. The numbers of the first 26 rounds were merciless, with only 15 points earned, 19 defeats and 60 goals conceded. Everyone knew it would be difficult considering the quality gap, but something more was expected. They paid for the inexperience of coach Fred Grim at this level, but especially for a roster not suitable for the top flight. The club had adopted the policy of keeping the team almost unchanged, focusing on the alchemy that had been created between the coach and the players, but most of these proved not to be up to the Eredivisie standard. During the summer a transfer campaign able to create a team more suited to this league was expected, but it wasn't the case, on the contrary, the few players who were up to it left. A clear demonstration of the fact that due to the lack of economic resources, they do not believe much in their permanence in the top-flight and are already laying the foundations for next season in Eerste Divisie. First string players such as Emil Hansson, Hannes Delcroix, Clint Leemans and Dylan Vente, all on loan, went back to their owners, while a team mainstay Daan Rienstra was sold. As for the arrivals, coach Grim will be able to count on a reliable goalkeeper in Konstantinos Lamprou, a midfielder from Eerste Divisie James Efmorfidis, one from the Israeli league, Nicolas Olsak and on young Thierry Lutonda and Cyril Ngonge, both coming from the Belgian league.

Target

Their goal, however difficult, will be to be relegated honourably, hopefully fighting to the end. It would take a real miracle to remain in Eredivisie.
