After winning Libertadores twice in a row, Palmeiras won Série A, last season. All three titles were obtained with Abel Ferreira in dugout. The Portuguese prepared a more positive and dominant team to attack the league, this time, even if their strongest weapon remained the defensive organization. Palmeiras can't stop winning titles. They have celebrated Paulistão, this season, after a comeback win against Água Santa in the final. Verdão started Libertadores poorly with an away defeat in Bolivia. Abel Ferreira is an absolute idol at this stage, after winning two Libertadores, one Série A and one Cup on his three years with Palmeiras. He has been introducing a more dominant approach without compromising the defensive organization and pragmatic attacking style. Palmeiras only brought Artur back from Bragantino. The winger left Palmeiras 3 years ago and had been one of the highlights of the league with dazzling dribbles and good runs using his left foot. Artur will compensate the departure of Gustavo Scarpa. In the middle, Danilo left without any proper replacement coming in. There are hopes that Menino will return to his best days. Palmeiras is very strong at the back. Goalkeeper Weverson and centre-half Gomez are the best in the country in respective positions, and the block organized by Abel is almost impossible to break, at some times. The team has been struggling when facing weaker teams that force Palmeiras to have the ball much too long. That is, however, a less problematic issue these days than it was during Abel's first two years. Raphael Veiga and Dudu form a crucial partnership in attack; every attack will have a decisive touch from at least one of those two. However, the two key players of the team are Weverton and Gomez, at the back.

Target

Palmeiras is a strong candidate for the title.
