Alex Revell will be hoping for a successful second season in management at Stevenage. It took him a while to get to grips with the job at Broadhall Way before repaying the faith shown in him by owner Phil Wallace. Boro’ were fortunate to completing the Football League having been given a second chance following Macclesfield Town’s collapse. A remarkable run of form at the start of 2021 even saw a brief flirtation with the play-offs but that was too-much too-soon. Key to that resurgence was the form of striker Elliott List, who linked up impressively with January signing Luke Norris, and they are both signed up for next season. The only significant departure this summer has been midfielder Tom Pett, who rejected the offer of a new deal in favour of a move to Port Vale. New signings Jake Reeves and Jake Taylor will be looking to take his place after moving from Notts County and Exeter City respectively whilst midfielder Arthur Read’s loan switch from Brentford has been made permanent. Chelsea goalkeeper Jamie Cumming enjoyed a fine season on loan between the sticks and Revell will be hoping Joseph Anang can follow in his footsteps after signing on a season-long loan from West Ham United. Defender Terence Vancooten came of age last season whilst the experience of Chris Lines proved vital in the middle of the park. A couple of shrewd additions, possibly in loanees, and Boro’ can head into the new season with a sense of optimism.

Target

Play-offs. It might be an ambitious aim but there were promising signs last season and they could be in the mix.
