After takiver over a Tranmere side that was on the brink of relegation at the moment of his appointment, Ronnie Moore has changed the Rovers' fortunes dramatically. The side was playing some promotion level stuff at times under Moore, and the fans are anxiously anticipating the new season, hoping that Moore can continue where he left off last season. The summer transfer window was a case of losing players and replacing them with like for like replacements; Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro, who signs from Rochdale, is a very similar player to the departed Lucas Akins, while Danny Harrison will be looking to fill the void left by the departure of John Welsh. Perhaps most importantly, Moore managed to secure the signing of James Wallace, who impressed during his time with the club last season, while another former loanee, Jake Cassidy, has also joined. There really wasn't much wrong with Tranmere squad-wise last season, but one thing that they lost and are yet to replace is the physical presence of Enoch Schowunmi. They tried to do that with the signing of Notts County striker Ben Burgess, but the former Blackpool man regrettably had to end his playing career, with Moore admitting that he is looking to sign a big target man before the season starts. If he manages to find such a player, Tranmere will have no notable weaknesses in the coming season.

Target

They have a well balanced side and a very experienced manager in Ronnie Moore. They should realistically look at a top half finish, as they are a couple of players away from being Play-Off candidates.
