Football Season Guide

Ufa had a real scare last season as they seemed to be heading for relegation amidst a run of uninspired football and little quality on show. Yet, a late managerial change proved key in April proved key as Aleksey Stulakov inspired the team to three wins and two draws in the final six games, just about enough to see them finish above the bottom two. Now everyone at Ufa is hoping for a more serene and successful season in which the team builds on that positive run late on last season and become more consistent mid-table presence. Stulakov has gone back to his former club, Veles, to bring in a couple of new signings in Ruslan Fishchenko and Erving Botaka while a few other players from the division have been added to bulk up the squad. There have been few notable departures so far and experienced players like Bojan Jokic, Vyacheslav Krotov and Alexey Nikitin will be expected to be the backbone of the side and ensure that the team remains competitive and hard to beat. There is not too much to get excited about in this Ufa side, with no one scoring more than four goals all of last season and, with no new major attacking singings made, but Stulakov will look to keep them compact at the back and rely on craft and hard work in midfield to ensure that they stay out of trouble.
