After a disastrous start and first couple of months last season, West Bromwich Albion turned things around from January onwards after the appointment of Tony Pulis. They stumbled a little in March/April, but then upped their game again and come the end of the season were nine point clear of the drop zone. There was always the sense that relegation was not going to be an issue once Pulis took the reins. Ahead of the new season Pulis has added James McClean and James Chester to the squad. As of yet he has been unable to strengthen the central midfield area. The Baggies could do with a little bit of creativity in that area. Last season they relied perhaps too heavily on Chris Brunt. Pulis will be hoping to keep his side tight at the back, but at the same time will be well aware of the need to create more chances and score more goals. One gets the impression that if Saido Berahino is offered better service, he is capable of scoring a lot more goals as long as he stays focused and free from injury.

Target

West Brom will be hoping to challenge for a place in the top half of the table. That is not beyond them, but is perhaps a very ambitious target. As long as they are not involved in any type of relegation concerns, a mid-table finish will be deemed adequate.
