Feirense had their absolute best season ever in 2016-17. It was in fact the very first time that Feirense managed to avoid relegation from the top flight. A top half finish in the table was something completely unexpected and the type of surprise that any fan would love to be repeated this season. Arguably two of the most important players left to join more important teams in Portugal. Goalkeeper, Vaná, was rewarded by the great second half of the season he had and joined Portuguese giants Porto. Striker, Karamanos, will continue on loan in Portugal but he will be joining Rio Ave instead this time. Also an important departure is left winger, Vítor Bruno, who will be joining Boavista. Finally, Brazilian forward Platiny – who spent half of the season injured but is otherwise an important attacker – is also leaving to join rivals Chaves. Many players who are unknown to the Portuguese public will be arriving at Feirense this season and the fans are hoping that some of them could at least reach the heights of those who left. Murilo Prates arrives from the lower divisions of Brazil to replace Vaná while a couple of South American attackers have joined to fight to be Karamanos' and Planity's replacements. However, the best news for the fans come from “inside”. Coach, Nuno Manta, was arguably the most important part of the team to achieve the memorable 8th place of last season. Managing to keep him at the club was the best move Feirense's board could have made. Manta will now have proper preparation for the season, instead of being a replacement for a the sacked José Mota.

Target

Despite last season's achievements, the goal for this term should be no higher than simply avoiding relegation.
