Coventry are coming from a rather difficult season, which saw their expectations go down with each passing month. They started off as a team hoping to achieve promotion, but were eventually dragged into the battle against the drop and only secured their survival in the very last round of the season. The Sky Blues have been rather active in the transfer market during the summer, and will feel that they have lost to truly important players, as all of the men that have left were either bit-part players during the entire previous season, or have lost their regular places in the late stages of the campaign. The list of arrivals includes two promising youngsters in Adam Armstrong and Ruben Lameiras, as well as two household League One players in Sam Ricketts and Romain Vincelot, who will both be expected to become instant starters and have the sort of quality needed to potentially become true key players for the Sky Blues. However, one big problem that the Sky Blues have not addressed is their lack of firepower. They currently have only two typical strikers in their squad: Marcus Tudgay, whose best days seem to definitely be behind him, and Armstrong, who is an unknown quantity at this stage. They will be hoping to push for promotion, but a lot will depend in whether they will manage to improve their striking department, both in terms of numbers and quality.

Target

Their goal will be to push for a top six place, but, with their current squad, a midtable finish seems to be a more realistic target.
