Shrewsbury are back into League One after a one-year absence after managing to achieve the rare feat of bouncing back into the third tier at the first time of asking. They managed to achieve promotion relatively comfortably, having finished midway between champions Burton and third-placed Bury. There were a lot of fears surrounding the Shrews following Graham Turner's sudden departure midway through the 2013/14 season but Micky Mellon, who took over at the end of that campaign, has done a stellar job and has assembled a squad that was quite formidable by League Two standards. Despite having plenty of League One experience in their squad, the Shrews were very active on the summer transfer market and have made a number of eye-catching signings, with full-back Matt Tootle and Mat Sadler arguably being the pick of the lot. Shrewsbury's squad does not look like a squad of a newly-promoted side, as Mellon could easily name an 18-man squad consisted only of players that are proven at League One level. The Shrews have also managed to keep the core of their last season's squad together, as no important players have left the club. Obviously, it is always difficult to predict how newly-promoted sides will do in unfamiliar surroundings, but Shrewsbury seem to have the stage set to enjoy a pleasurable season of return to the third tier.

Target

They have quality in all areas of the pitch and will expect to have nothing to do with the relegation dog fight.
