Dynamo Dresden impressed when securing promotion and now Yellow and Blacks will want to avoid what happened to them just two season ago when they went back down straight away. Coach Uwe Neuhaus has plenty of experience in this level of football, but the difficult financial situation in the club is seriously limiting his options of strengthening the ranks. This summer Dynamo already lost four regulars, amongst them the key inner midfielder Moll and the even more important right winger Eilers, who scored lots of goals last season and also provided 12 assists. This will definitely have impact on the overall balance of the squad and so far the new arrivals are all coming from lower division teams, plus two from the relegated FSV Frankfurt. The situation is what it is though and Neuhaus will have to find a way to build a competitive squad with what he has at his disposal. The new number one is expected to be the loanee Schwabe, while in front of him Ballas’ arrival means that he is likely to partner Modica in the heart of the defence. There is poor balance in terms of full-back options as there are four typical left-backs and only one right-back. This means that if no other signings are made the moment Kreuzer is unavailable somebody will have to play out of position. At least the double-six positions will be occupied by players with over 300 Bundesliga 2 games between them and both Konrad, he just signed, and the winter arrival Lambertz are very solid inner midfielders. For now the left winger Stefaniak remains in the club, but after Eilers departure it is not yet clear who will operate on the other flank. The attacking options are also not many and all of the three strikers are lacking experience at this level and remain unproven quantities. Without a doubt Dynamo’s season will be difficult and all the players will have to show passion and exemplary workload if they are to avoid relegation.
