Het Andere Oranje are back in Eredivisie after 13 years. They earned promotion thanks to the second place in Eerste Divisie, 8 points behind first-placed Emmen. Over the course of the season they proved to be a tough team to beat, only 5 defeats, less than anyone else. Yet it is a team with a strong offensive propensity, they scored 81 goals, 29 of which were signed by expert forward Robert Mühren, who was their best player, followed by striker Daryl van Mieghem, who provided 14 assists (the best assist-man of the league). Great merits for the promotion go to coach Wim Jonk, on the Volendam bench since 2019 and confirmed also for this season. Jonk has almost always opted for the 4-3-3 system of play. During the summer transfer market the club managed to keep almost all the most important players, the most relevant departure was that of midfielder Boy Deul. Almost completely still also the incoming market which saw only centre-back Benaissa Benamar arrive in Volendam from Utrecht. If things do not change in the last few days coach Jonk will have to focus on the group, mostly inexperienced at these levels, but certainly compact and knowing the coach's ideas well. The hope is that Mühren and Van Mieghem will repeat the feats of last season even at this level and that maybe some more experienced players will arrive, especially in midfield.

Target

Like all newly promoted teams Volendam will have the goal of fighting for staying in the topflight, but, at the moment, it seems like a difficult mission.
