Giants Fenerbahce finished last season 2nd yet again. Despite having just 1 defeat in 38 (W31 D6) rounds and accumulating 99 points the Feners still got beaten to the title. Some internal turmoil late in the campaign between coach Kartal and star players played vital role in this failure. Falling out with the team’s captain Dzeko and another star veteran Tadic was never going to work well for coach Kartal. He got sacked at the end of the season despite the impressive record. Portuguese legend Jose Mourinho is Fenerbahce’s new head coach. Mourinho is backed to deliver the title again to the Yellow and Blues. He already spent 20 million euros on a new striker – Youssef En-Nesyri. Veteran Cenk Tosun also joins an elite front line spearheaded by captain Dzeko, who scored 21 league goals last season. Even before all these reinforcements Fenerbahce had the strongest attack last season – 99 goals scored in 38 rounds. They should be going for 100+ league goals this campaign for sure. The flanks of attack were boosted too. Explosive wingers Aydin and Saint-Maximin joined this summer. Both will be competing with Tadic and Under for starting roles. The squad is big so the competition for places will be fierce. Mourinho is known for his conservatives tactics and his main goal will be to improve the defensive stability. Last season Livakovic kept only 13 clean sheets in 38 rounds but much better record this term can be expected from Fenerbahce regarding shutdowns.

Target

The only goal is the title. Anything else will be seen as a failure.
