It is an exciting new season ahead for Lincoln as they hope to finally at least come close to ending their long wait for promotion. One of the big clubs outside of the Football League have become used to mid-table mediocrity and false dawns in recent years and there must be still some big dose of negativity around the place. Yet the Imps have acquired a brilliant new coach this season in Danny Cowley. He was by far and away the most impressive manager in the division last season as he sensationally lead a modest Braintree side to the play-offs. They almost reached the final too and it was startling to see the sort of impact a young coach, who had never managed at such a level before, to do so well in his first season with a club. He decided to jump ship and take up the offer from a club that is no match for Braintree’s fanbase and resources. It is an exciting project ahead but the pressure will be different on Cowley this time and it will be fascinating to see how the handles it. He did bring a few of his former players from Braintree and Alex Woodyard is the pick of the punch, a fine midfielder with a real eye for a pass. The other impressive new signing is that of Nathan Arnold. He just won promotion with local rivals Grimsby and has been probably the best winger in the league for the past two seasons. Convincing him to remain in the National League is no mean feat and could make all the difference as Lincoln plot a return to where they think they belong

Target

With an exciting new manager in place and a squad bolstered, Lincoln will be daring to dream and rightly so. Play-offs are very much gettable and the Imps should go for it.
