Millwall made a fantastic impact on their first season back in the Championship in 2010/11. Kenny Jackett’s men were top half-bound for the majority of the season and even toyed with a playoff charge in the final furlong. Much of the Lions’ success was down to their incredibly dependable home form, with the New Den something of a fortress for Jackett’s men last term. Millwall will need to beware of the second season syndrome that often hits newly promoted sides who enjoy a good first season before hitting a brick wall in the following year. Welsh international striker Steve Morison was talismanic for the Lions last year, with his all-action style catching the eye of Premier League new boys Norwich City, signing the former non-league front man in the close season. Jackett replaced the departed Morison with Sheffield United target man Darius Henderson, who has been there and done it at Championship level with both Watford and Gillingham in previous years. The Lions may struggle to stay the course for a top six place in 2011/12 but a top half finish is still possible.

Target

The loss of talismanic striker Steve Morison could prove damaging to the Lions’ playoff hopes for 2011/12.
