Moreirense is back to top flight after having been completely dominant in Segunda Liga, last season. Moreirense finished 10 points above second place in a clear statement that Minhotos felt they didn't belong to the second tier of Portuguese football. The team that will play in Primeira Liga will be necessarily different than that one that topped Segunda Liga table, last season. There's a new coach, new ideas and a few new weapons on the squad for Moreirense to attack top flight league, this season. The head coach will be Rui Borges, who will have his first ever experience in Primeira Liga. The 42-years old is coming from promising jobs with Nacional, Vilafranquense and, most recently, with Mafra. The most significant changes to last season are on the defensive area. Goalkeeper, right-back and the centre-backs duo are gone. Caio Secco is an excellent choice for goal; Maracás and veteran Marcelo are strong names for the centre of defence; Fabiano is close to arrive for the right-back position. Gonçalo Franco and Alanzinho are staying at Moreirense and they will lead the midfield, where Lawrence Ofori and Rúben Ramos are also important units and Manga is a promising, unpolished jewel. In attack, Rodrigo Macedo arrived from Braga to challenge Camacho in one of the wings. The other two spots in attack look established already: striker André Luís (17 goals in last season) and winger Kodisang are perhaps the two strongest players for Moreirense in the new season.

Target

Being a newly promoted team, Moreirense cannot be ruled out from the relegation struggle. However, the team looks equipped well enough to stay in the mid-table positions.
