Salzburg have been rulers supreme of Austrian football for a while now and are coming from a wildly successful campaign, which saw them win the Bundesliga for the fifth time in a row and make the last four in the Europa League, with the sole real blow being their failure to win their fifth consecutive Austrian Cup. The Red Bulls have become a bit of a feeder club for RB Leipzig over the recent years, but their German sister-club have not signed any of their top performers this time around, with the sole player of note to have left being Valon Berisha, who joins Italian giants Lazio. As usual, the Red Bulls have signed several players who they plan to develop and the sole new arrival who is expected to immediately feature heavily for the first team is Zlatko Junuzovic, who returns to Austria after six years in Germany and signs as a like-for-like replacement for Berisha. Several players return from loans and Smail Prevljak will be the one to watch, having had a superb campaign with Mattersburg last time around. Prevljak will now be hoping for more playing time with his parent club. All things considered, Salzburg have a squad very similar to the one they had available last season and it is difficult to see anyone ending their domestic hegemony.

Target


Apart from retaining the title, their goal will be to finally qualify for the Champions League group stages, which is a goal that has been evading them since their big takeover in the mid-2000s.
