Rotherham United are starting life in League One after securing a second place finish in League Two in the last round of the previous season, thus ending a six year stay in the fourth tier. The Millers have finally reaped the rewards of an intelligent transfer policy, which saw them 'collecting' proven League One players that either became surplus to requirements to their clubs or came from clubs that had to sell them due to their financial problems. They continued this transfer policy during the summer break and, as a consequence, Rotherham seem to be better equipped for life in League One than any other side that won promotion from League Two last season, with the list of proven League One players in their ranks including the likes of Kari Arnason, Joe Skarz, Claude Davis, David Worrall, Lee Frecklington, Kay Odejayi, Daniel Nardiello, David Noble and Kieran Agard. In Richard Brindley and Danny Hylton, the Millers have signed two players that will provide manager Steve Evans with options, but neither of the due is expected to become a regular starter. Many fans have expectations for winger Robert Milsom, who signs from Aberdeen on a six month contract, but he is another unknown at this level. It also needs to be noted that Rotherham have one of the biggest squads in the division, and they definitely seem to have all that is needed to do well in their season of return to the third tier.

Target

They have plenty of quality and experience in the squad, and will be expected to have nothing to do with relegation. The majority of their fans will be hoping for a cheeky Play-off bid, but a finish inside the top ten would be seen as a decent one.
