Tromsø were able to retain their status in the division last season but were made to sweat until the end and the limitations of their side were exposed on too many occasions. The Northerners were never really expected to push for the top places last season but the fans were still hoping to see more quality from their team. Yet woeful showings were too common and manager Bård Flovik will be looking to see more consistency and quality from his charges in the campaign ahead. Yet the squad has been retained in the most part and Tromsø were one of the sides that experienced least change in their squad over the close season. Slovakian striker Slobodan Vuk is the main addition of the transfer window, joining from Domzale after scoring eight goals in 13 starts in the autumn. He is expected to bring goals and physical presence after Sofien Moussa failed to live up to the task after a promising start last year. Apart from Vuk, the only two other additions are two unknown African players who are very much ones for the future. Flovik will rely on experienced players like Morten Gamst Pedersen, Gjermund Asen, Simen Wangberg and Gudmund Kongshavn to provide backbone and spine while the promising Ulrik Yteggard Jenssen will be expected to build on a good second half of last season when he became an integral player. Aron Sigurdarson and Runar Espejord failed to live up to their promise last season and they are two players that the manager will hope to show more consistency and quality. Overall, Tromsø look like a decent enough outfit in this league but they are certainly unlikely to challenge for anything more than a mid-table finish.
