As it has become a habit recently, Setúbal survived on the very last weeks of last season. Vitória had a very rough period from round 12 to 26 without a single victory, which ruined a very interesting start. Former player of the club, Sandro, drove Setúbal into a late but remarkable success, last season, and was rewarded by keeping the position for this new campaign. The inexperienced coach will be facing the challenge of preparing a season for the first time. There were a few exits, but nothing too traumatic for the team. Attacking reference Cadiz and midfielders Mikel and Micael are all gone. Leandro Vilela has some reputation in Brazilian league and should add some immediate pedigree in midfield. Same for Guedes in attack, as he returns to the country after a great 2017-18 season when he scored 12 goals. Vitória will keep most of their team from last season, and will hope for the likes of Nuno Pinto, Sílvio and Mendy to present better fitness levels. Skipper Vasco and midfielders Nuno Valente and Éber Bessa will also be important references. After having been struggling in all recent seasons and not having apparently improved their squad, Setúbal can be considered one of the weakest squads both in depth and also general quality.

Target

Avoiding relegation, hopefully a bit earlier than usual in recent seasons.
