Barrow have once again just managed to beat the drop last season and more of the same could be expected in the upcoming one. The Cumbrian club is very short on cash and at the moment Dave Bayliss and Darren Sheridan have to operate with a pretty small squad. Barrow were poor for large stages of last season, unable to generate good runs of form for a sustained period and looking very suspect at the back. The managers will work hard to eradicate defensive problems in the upcoming campaign but it is difficult to see Barrow anywhere else but in the bottom half of the table for the majority of the season. At least, Barrow finally have a contracted goalkeeper, unlike last season when several loanees had to come in during the course of the season, and Danny Hurst is an experienced player who can provide security. Adam Boyes is an excellent capture up front and will be expected to come up with the goals - an area where Barrow were lacking last season after the departure of Jason Walker while the loan signing of Louis Almond is another big coup too after the Blackpool youngster had a big impact for a three-month spell last year. Midfield is easily the strongest area in the team after Andy Ferrell re-joined in the summer following an impressive loan period last season while the likes of Richie Barker and Robin Hulbert stayed on. The managers already know their way in the league as this will be their fourth season at this level and the hope will be that the defence stays solid and Boyes follows his pre-season form into the league games. If that happens, Barrow may actually worry less about survival and stay clear in mid-table. However, this looks like wishful thinking with the current squad depth with injuries bound to catch up during the course of the season.

Once again will be battling fiercely against relegation and this time there may not be four teams that are worse then them. Still, they should just about manage to survive.
