As expected Burnley were relegated from the Premier League last term and are back in a division that probably best suits them. Nobody can forget the remarkable achievement of Sean Dyche and his side to actually win promotion to the top flight two seasons ago despite their meagre resources. People will right them off again as they have now lost key players Danny Ings, Jason Shackell and Kieran Trippier. But the Clarets perform best with a siege mentality. Pleasingly they have been able to keep hold of Sean Dyche, one of the best managers around at this level, and his leadership qualities have been the key to Burnley's good couple of seasons. Nobody outside of Burnley will expect them to return to the Premier League but that might just bring out the best in them.

Target

Burnley fans and officials will want a Premier League return. A play-off place at best is probably a more realistic ambition.
