Dusseldorf were unable to bounce straight back up to the top flight last season, despite producing a solid campaign under Uwe Rosler, they eventually finished in 5th, six points adrift of the promotion play-offs. Rosler has since moved on and been replaced by Christian Preusser in the summer. At just 37, Preusser will be one of the youngest managers in the division. It is a gamble from the club to appoint a largely inexperienced coach but one that could pay off in the long run. Dusseldorf haven't been overly active in the transfer market over the summer but have made a few decent additions to the side. Klaus has made the move from Wolfsburg permanent after impressing on loan last season, while right-back Narey has also joined from Hamburger. Loan signings Tanaka and Nedelcu will also help their strength in depth, something that was missing last season. Dusseldorf were strong defensively last season but this may not be the case this term, Danso and Kranjc have both returned to their parent clubs after their loan spells and could be difficult to replace. Young talent Appelkamp is expected to shine once again after breaking on to the scene in the last campaign, the midfielder could be a key player, providing he stays clear of injury.
