Jahn Regensburg secured their status in the second division on the final day of last season. They never looked convincing, often flirting with relegation throughout the campaign. Coach Selimbegovic continues at the helm for the upcoming season and will need to try and freshen things up with things feeling a little stale at the club in recent months. There has been little finance available for transfers so Selimbegovic has had to be smart in the transfer window. Defenders Guwara and Breitkreuz have been signed on a free transfer from Utrecht and Erzgebirge respectively, while Singh and Boukhalfa are decent midfield additions brought in on loan. Jahn weren’t big goalscorers in the last campaign and you wonder again where the goals will come from this time round. There seems little support for main striker Albers, especially as Stolze has left for Hannover. Young Dutchman Zwarts could be the answer, depending on how quickly he settles. Despite these concerns Jahn will again be robust in their approach and difficult to beat. You would expect them to be strong at home again, where they are likely to pick up the majority of their victories.
