Thanks to an outstanding campaign, which saw them reach the top of the table in week 10 and keep it until the end, Frosinone obtained an unexpected promotion to the Serie A last season. They excelled in all the areas, displaying both the league’s best attack, with 63 goals scored, and best defence, with only 26 goals conceded. Despite promotion, coach Fabio Grosso surprisingly decided not to renew his contract and left. Thus, the management chose Eusebio Di Francesco as his replacement. The former Sassuolo and Roma coach has his careergoing downhill after 4 sackings in a row. The new man at the helm should adopt an aggressive 4-3-3 formation, thus maintaining some continuity with his predecessor, from a tactical point of view. He will have to deal with a completely renovated squad, though. In fact, several of the protagonists of last season’s triumphal cavalcade left during the summer. The attack is definitely the area which suffered the main departures as the likes of Mulattieri, Moro and Insigne, 26 goals and 6 assists together, all left while the defence and the midfield also lost main players in Boloca, Rohden, Sampirisi and Ravanelli.   If nothing else, they succeeded in re-signing starting goalie Turati and central midfielder Mazzitelli, who had returned to their parent clubs at the end of the campaign. In terms of new signings, so far Frosinone tried to inject some experience into the squad, while also opting for a few gambles. Thus, Romagnoli and Marchizza could strengthen the defence while Harroui, who left no mark at Sassuolo last season, and Brescianini could become starters in the middle of the park, while youngsters Cuni and  Kvernadze, who are both non-entities for the league, could play major roles in the attack.    Frosinone still need to strengthen and build depth in all the areas.
