It could be said that the last one was a poor season for Genclerbirligi, but they somehow managed to survive at the top level. During the whole season, they recorded a 2-game winning run twice but failed to win a 3rd in a row. After Hamza Hamzaoglu replaced coach Mustafa Kaplan, they could never catch consistency, mostly due to their lack of quality. Once again, Stancu was the most reliable and productive player of the team. Besides him, Sio did a great job. Except for them, there was no other specific performer. When those two were stopped, they struggled offensively. So far, the board did not bring anybody to support them. The other departments also saw some departures and another is possible as there are serious offers on the table for Berat Ozdemir. They will be unable to use Salih and Omer Alp till the new year because of their injuries. So coach Mert Nobre, who will have his 1st experience as a head coach, needs to be active in the transfer market to increase the quality in defence and midfield but they look strong enough on the net with Nordfeldt and Ertac. It is sure that they will bring some new players before the summer transfer market is closed, but the fans are worried as the board have been shy in spending money in the recent years. Considering the general view of the team, the new coach will need luck to see the end of the season.

Target

Any place far from the relegation zone should be their target. They can improve their cup run following last season’s early exit.
