Halmstads ended up last season becoming the Superettan winners, gaining their direct promotion to Allsvenskan. They finished the season in an impressive way with 9 wins in their last 10 matches played. It won't be so easy of course in Allsvenskan for this historical team. Halmstads didn't lose any of their key players and they had the important addition of Marcus Antonsson from Malmo who is very experienced and can produce 8-10 goals. Also Amir Al Ammari is a promising addition for the team as he had very good numbers with Jonkopings in Superettan and it will be a critical step for his carreer to prove he can play at a higher level. Considering their recent performance in the preseason in which they had a 2-6-2 record, Halmstads seems to be still in training period and the players are obviously in the time in which they cannot get the runs they want and the fatigue is obvious from the camp. That means that probably at the start of the season Halmstads will need a bit of time to adapt to Allsvenskan level. HBK is known for having a fine academy that is good at producing promising players. Two own products that can flourish in the Allsvenskan this year are 19-year old Erik Ahlstrand and Emil Tot Wikström.

Target

The historical team of Halmstads (which have won the Allsvenskan in 2000) expects a good run in the league this season but for sure their target will first be to avoid as early as they can any relegation concerns and then try to get the best position they can. A position towards the mid of the table could be a realistic target for the team.
