Sirius proved the surprise package of the 2020 season with an impressive first half of the campaign that established them as top three contenders. However, opposition learned how to counter them, and they only collected 1 win in 13 closing fixtures of the season. Inevitably the potent attacking trio of Saeid, Sugita and Vecchia has broken up with top scorer Vecchia moving to Rosenborg. Almost ever-present midfielder Andersson has moved to Djurgarden with Jarl and Thor also moving on. Third Choice goalkeeper Viscosi has also left. Sarpsborg 08 regular goalkeeper Nilsson has signed and will provide strong competition. They will have more defensive options with Ceesay returning from loan at Helsingborg. Midfield is boosted with the additions of Mathisen and Ortmark who both had strong seasons in 2020. Replacing Vecchia in attack will not be easy but Bulut, who scored 22 last season, and Bjarnason have signed. Sirius’ big problem is they were figured out in the second half of the season. They hardly won a game in the second half of the campaign and, overall, they conceded 47 goals. They have done little to strengthen their defence and have they the capability to switch to a different style?

Target

A repeat of the free-flowing football seen in the first half of last season would be adequate. However, avoiding a relegation scare would be most welcome.
