Initially thought to be title contenders in 2020, Hammarby slumped to 8th place after a dispiriting end to the season. Nine draws at home meant they had no chance of competing for the European places. Defensive regulars, Fallman and Soderstrom, have been allowed to leave. Ekdal, who was a regular starter on loan at Sirius, has also left. In midfield Ngouali and Kacaniklic have moved on. Their experience and goal-threat could be missed. Top scorer, Johannsson, has moved to Lech Poznan, leaving a big gap to be filled in attack. Coming in to replace Johannsson is Selmani from Varbergs. He grabbed 15 goals last season and his career seems on the way up. The midfield is boosted by experienced Ghanaian international Accam and Rodic, returning from a loan spell at Odds BK. Central defence is strengthened with the signing of Fjoluson, who at 31 has been given a 3-year contract. Hammarby have an experienced defence with a midfield and attack with the potential for goals. However, doubts remain after the defence conceded 47 goals last season and little has been done to strengthen that area. They know they are not a mid-table team and should be up there fighting for the top places with the best teams in the Allsvenskan.
