It was a mixed campaign for Houston Dynamo who enjoyed some success. They finished 9th in the Western Conference but Wilmer Cabrera's side lifted the US Open Cup to secure a place in the 2019 Concacaf Champions League. However, a mixed season in the MLS saw Houston score 58 and concede 58 leaving them stuck in the bottom of the Western Conference, winning just 10 league games. It was a terrific campaign for striker Mauro Manotas who scored 19 league goals and 8 in their cup run. Tomas Martinez also impressed finishing in the top 10 of the assists list with 13. Cabrera has tweaked his squad slightly with MLS campaigners Maynor Figueroa and Chris Duvall joining. But the coach has also dipped into South America to sign Argentine defensive midfielder Matias Vera who arrives following an excellent loan spell at O'Higgins in Chile. Vera will add some much needed steel to the midfield and play a deep lying playmaker role.

Target

Looking to surprise a few in the Concacaf Champions League. They will be aiming to push for a play-off place, and a finishing in those positions would represent an excellent season for Cabrera's team.
