The San Jose Earthquakes endured a very disappointing season finishing bottom of the Western Conference with just 4 league wins all season. However, they will be hoping 2019 is a huge contrast as new manager Matias Alymeda begins his reign at the club. Appointed following the conclusion of 2018 season, Alymeda will be looking to implement his playing style and create a winning formula at the club. He arrives following management spells at clubs like River Plate and Guadalajara. Danny Hoesen managed to notch 12 league goals in a poor side and certainly the new manager will be leaning on him in 2019. Alymeda has been active in the transfer window and has added new faces. The pick is certainly creative midfielder Cristian Espinonza who arrives on loan from Villarreal. The 23-year-old has over 100 career appearances and will be hoping to add some much needed creativity and flair in the midfield which is clearly what Alymeda wanted as Brazilian Judson has also joined on loan.

Target

The primary target will be to win more matches and push up the table. Alymeda needs a good start and he will want them to build towards challenging for the play-offs. But a higher points tally will represent a good season for the Quakes.
