Livingston’s first full season under David Martindale was an overall success. The club performed well in the league, steering well clear of relegation. But some bad patches of form, including a long losing run at the start of the campaign, saw them miss out on a top six spot. A handful of key additions over summer see the squad significantly strengthened. Cancar is a boost to defence, Bitsindou and Bahamboula provide energy and creativity in midfield and Goncalves boosts an attack that was over reliant on Bruce Anderson last season. But the departure of Forrest is a big loss. Results in pre-season have been mixed. New signings from foreign countries are taking some time to adjust. Rotation of a deep squad has also seen a lack of consistency in the starting XI. But Livingston can look to build on last season’s successes. If Anderson and Stryjek can remain in form, a top six finish could be close. Livingston have plenty of depth and a good mix of attributes. With their solid defence and range of midfield options, they can adjust their style to take on any opponents. Livingston’s biggest weakness may be their lack of consistency. They struggled to settle on starting full backs and wingers last season. Several new additions could disrupt the squad further.

Target

6th. Pushing onto the top six will be the main priority. Success in cup competitions will be a secondary priority.
