Last season went extremely badly for St Johnstone. It was a huge comedown from their cup double from the season before. They failed to build on their success, crashing out of Europe and finishing in a relegation play off. Throughout the season, the team lacked creativity and pace. Summer transfer action has been mostly negative. St Johnstone lost goalkeeper Zander Clark, one of last season's best players. Top scorer Hendry also left. Neither player has been replaced. New signings Considine, Carey, and Wright offer quality in defence and midfield. Things are looking bad for the season ahead. Poor results in the League Cup saw St Johnstone out at the group stage. The fans booed the team off at their last game and seem to have turned on the manager. St Johnstone's strength lies in defence where they have some quality options. Brown, Considine and Cleary are all standouts. This gives them a solid core to build on. The forward line is very light. Kane, May and Bair are all failing to impress. The team lacks pace and creativity in the final third and struggles to create chances. A lack of replacement for Clark leaves the goalkeeping spot very light too.

Target

8th. Avoiding the relegation zone is the only priority for this poorly performing side.
