Nurnberg were relegated from the Bundesliga at the first time of asking after a miserable season saw them horribly out of their depth, finishing bottom with just 19 points. Left-back Tim Leibold has joined Hamburger SV but Nurnberg moved quickly for a replacement in 21 year-old Handwerker. The loss of Eduard Lowen could cause a weakness in the centre of midfield without a like for like replacement, however the other transfer business they have done should give them the tools for a promotion chase. Scoring goals were a major issue last year in the top flight and manager Damir Canadi has addressed this with the signings of proven front men and against lesser opposition they should fare a lot better this season.
