A disappointing season in the Championship in 2021/22 saw Peterborough fall straight back down into League One after just one season in the second tier. Iconic manager Darren Ferguson saw his third spell in charge of the Posh come to an end in February with Peterborough five points from safety. Former Hull and Peterborough boss Grant McCann took charge and their form did pick up towards the end of the season but it wasn’t enough. McCann remains in charge though as Peterborough begin another season in League One. There has been little change to the core of the playing squad over the summer. The majority of the players remained are the same ones that performed so well in getting Peterborough promoted from League One in 20/21. This includes powerful striker Clarke-Harris who scored 31 league goals in the 20/21 season, midfield general Taylor and experienced defender Nathan Thompson. In McCann they have a manager who was named League One Manager of the Season in 2020/21 after leading Hull to the League One title. The main weakness for Peterborough last season was defensively, they conceded 87 goals, the joint worst, so this is an area where they need to improve.

Target

Experienced, successful League One players led by a manager who knows how to succeed at this level – promotion will be the goal.
