Sheffield Wednesday blew hot and cold last season. After a poor start, Darren Moore's men began to find some form as the campaign wore on, finishing in the playoff places. Wednesday were ultimately beaten over two legs by Sunderland. There has been plenty of change on the transfer front. Akin Famewo, Ben Heneghan, Michael Ihiekwe and Reece James have been signed in defence, replacing the out-of-contract Chey Dunkley and Ciaran Brennan who has left on loan. The big addition is star striker Michael Smith, joining on a free transfer from Rotherham United. He'll guarantee goals, which is needed after Saido Berahino has been let go. The Owls look strong all over the field. While key signings in defence and up top leave Moore with a strong squad at his disposal. Wednesday's biggest concern is the inconsistency with which they played. One week they looked like the best team in the division, the next a side who lacked any sort of quality. If they can fix this issue, they'll be right in amongst the promotion race. Sheffield Wednesday are in a great position, though they need to find the consistency which deserted them too many times last time around.

Target

Promotion by any means necessary. The Owls have added some genuine quality already this summer and failing to go up a division would be disastrous.
