An impressive first season for rookie boss Edward Still last campaign saw Charleroi finish the regular season in 6th. The close season has seen the departure of another striker. Bayo was brought in on loan in January, after star forward Nicholson left, and performed impressively scoring seven times in 10 league starts. A permanent deal was completed for the Ivorian at the end of the season, however, he has now moved on to pastures new with English Championship side Watford snapping up the striker for around £5million. This leaves Charleroi again looking for a new main striker. For now they have managed to hang onto their other prize assets including impressive goalkeeper Koffi. Their midfield remains strong with Ilaimaharitra, Zorgane, Morioka and Gholizadeh still at the club. They have added to their options in the middle of the park with the signing of Maggiotti who impressed for third tier French side Laval last season scoring six goals and providing 11 assists. Heymans returns after a successful loan spell last season. Charleroi remain a capable side under the management of an ambitious, young Head Coach and expect them to again perform well this season.

Target

A place in the top eight should again be the target.
