It ended up being a highly successful campaign for Cercle Brugge last season as they made the European playoffs, eventually finishing 6th, their highest finish since 2008. The campaign started off poorly and they sat second bottom in September but the appointment of Miron Muslic as Head Coach prompted a turnaround in fortunes, they only lost three of their last 20 matches. There have been some significant departures in the off season with first-choice goalkeeper Majecki and club stalwart Vanhoutte departing. One name that was expected to leave was top scorer Ueda who hit 23 league goals in 2022/23 but for now he remains with Cercle. The only significant incoming so far is that of right-back Siquet who impressed on loan at Cercle last season and has extended his stay for another year. A strength of Cercle under Muslic is their energetic, intense style of play which many teams found difficult to handle last season and was crucial to their success. A potential weakness was that they were heavily reliant on Ueda for goals last season, if he departs, they could be found wanting.

Target

European playoffs. Will be difficult to improve upon their finish last season but, with Muslic in charge and a solid structure in place, they should still enjoy a good campaign.
