Sirius finished the 2023 season in 8th place after a W12 D6 L12 season. The main strength of the team last year was their forward line. Sirius scored 51 goals and only the teams that finished in the top 3 positions had better records. Sirius were also the only team outside champions Malmo to have 2 different players in double digits for goals – Abou Ali and Persson had 10 goals each. Winger Matthews was also a key figure with his 10 assists. However, this winter both Matthews and Abou Ali left Sirius so there are serious concerns regarding their scoring record in 2024 staying the same. Sirius added 2 young strikers to their ranks – Salech is 22 and Milleskog is 21 – and the hopes are that somehow they will be good enough to contribute regularly. The squad is very young, most players are aged 24 or younger, which could prove a problem if things got hard. Still, coach Mattiasson proved to be a very good leader in his first season in charge and he will hope for more of the same in 2024.
